Trust your intuition - coldie

Multiple depths cues can be found in the above artwork.

  • Overlapping. Objects that occlude the other one is percived to be closer.
  • Linear perspective. Objects farther away look smaller while closer objects look bigger.
  • Shades and shadows. Objects closer from the light source appear brighter. The shading can be used to infer depth relationships between objects.
  • Atmospheric Attenuation. Farther away objects appear to be hazy and less sharp.
  • Motion Parallax. Objects near to the observer move faster than objects farther away.

Colorful Hermmann grid illusion [2018]

I created a colorful version of hermann grid illusion. Colors were chosen from an isoluminance plane of the DKL colorspace.

Gray dots appear at the intersection points of the white grid lines. Gray dots only appear when you look away! If you try to fixate to a specific gray dot, it will disappear.

Scintillating Grid illusion

Dots out side of foveal vision appear to be fashing black and white. If you fixate your eye movement, dots appear to be constant white.
